PLANNING APPLICATION SUBMITTED

Victoria Palace Theatre, London

Following our appointment as architect for the extension of London's Victoria Palace Theatre, a planning application has been submitted to Westminster Council. Plans include significant improvements to the existing theatre — a new and extended stagehouse and new lifts adjacent to front-of-house, which will also be extended and improved. Building work is not expected to start for several years, ensuring no disruption to resident hit musical, Billy Elliot.

Joint venture in Waterford

PHASED RESTORATION AND EXTENSION OF HISTORIC THEATRE

Theatre Royal, Waterford

We have been appointed to renovate and extend the Theatre Royal in Waterford as a joint venture with local architect Kenneth Wigham Architects.

Phase 1 of the project will see the restoration of this jewel of a Victorian theatre, with associated audience support facilities accommodated in the adjacent Georgian City Hall. Phase 2 will create new foyers and performer support areas as part of the city's Viking Triangle initiative.

African project

CONCEPT DESIGN PROPOSALS

Artscape, Cape Town, South Africa

Arts Team has just been appointed to prepare concept design proposals for the refurbishment of the 1200 seat main auditorium at Artscape Theatre Centre in Cape Town, South Africa. The theatre centre, which opened in the 1971, was formerly known as the Nico Malan theatre complex.

STRATEGIC STUDY FOR ROYAL PHILHARMONIC SOCIETY

Music Centre, Liverpool

We have been appointed to work with ABL Consulting on a strategic study to create a Music Centre for the Royal Philharmonic Society in Liverpool.

Belfast Grand Opera House extension

Arts Team has recently been presented with a RICS Community Benefit Award (Northern Ireland) for the extension to the Grade B listed Belfast Grand Opera House. We also received a commendation for Northampton's Royal & Derngate Theatres development, in the Building Conservation category (East Midlands). Belfast Grand is now being assessed for a RICS national award.

School theatre starts on site

STUDIO VENUE FOR PERFORMANCE AND TEACHING

Winterflood Theatre, London

The new Winterflood Theatre, for the City of London School for Boys, goes on site in early July. The new facility balances the needs of drama teaching with performance in a highly adaptable 200 seat studio venue. Willmott Dixon is the main contractor.

New performance venue for Doncaster

FEASIBILITY & VIABILITY REPORT COMPLETED

New performance venue, Doncaster

Plans for Doncaster's new performance venue are moving forward, as the Feasibility & Viability report has now been completed.

Arts Team expects to receive instruction to proceed with design for a planning application in October 2008. Having been appointed in March 2008, with other consultants, we have devised various options. As a result of the study, the project is likely to be split into two phases; second phase providing education, rehearsal and library facilities. The venue is to be located in the heart of Doncaster's new Waterdale development.
